I can't
believe it's been 5 years since I met 2011 X-Factor winner Altiyan Childs, so
thanks to all of you who liked this Facebook memory.
As a person
who's been lucky enough to meet many celebrities, here's my message on this
topic;
As part of
the public audience in society, I've noticed that far too often, we tend to
place too much pressure on celebrities to be "the perfect people" as
well as question their reasons for taking breaks from the public eye and/or
stardom (just to feed our own curiosity and/or to simply judge them
negatively), but what we sometimes don't realise is that celebrities are first and
foremost human beings and that life runs its course for them just as it does
for everyone else - no different.
It's also
very important to note that regardless of which artistry avenue you're
pursuing, then you sometimes need to make time to develop your craft (even if
it means stepping away from the public eye for a short or long period of time)
then so be it.
Or if you want
to lend your artistry position to support different causes, then so be it,
because it's ultimately about doing what you wholeheartedly feel is best for
you and your artistry, all the while knowing that you sometimes can't please
everyone.
Altiyan Childs
is a very talented singer and a down-to-earth person, but he was facing
personal and professional challenges behind the scenes.
My advice to
anyone out there touched by celebritidum is to:
1) Respect humbleness and the sometimes quiet achieving personality in a
celebrity.
2) Be prepared to take responsibility for your actions.
3) Know where your headspace is at before and after undertaking the journey.
4) If you wish to treat it as a “learning curve” then be prepared to make tough and/or strict decisions when and/or if you feel required to.
5) Learn to distinguish the difference between the “personal humanitarian” part and the “showbiz and fame” part.
6) Try not to play the “blame game” when life’s unpredictabilities, milestones and/or bad days get in the way without getting complacent because I’m living proof that celebrity encounters can turn into life-changing experiences if navigated the right way.
